Mahesh Bhatt gets excited when he remembers Parveen Babi on his death anniversary: sometimes memories escape from our eyes and slide down our cheeks.

One of the most glamorous actresses of her time, Parveen Babi, enjoyed the spotlight when she reigned in Bollywood in the 70s and 80s. At the top of her career, it was said that Parveen was in a relationship with the filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. On his fifteenth anniversary of death, Mahesh Bhatt recalled a series of posts on Twitter: “Sometimes they sneak out of our eyes and slide down our cheeks,” the filmmaker wrote while labeling her as “intimate stranger” on another.

In an interview with Filmfare, Mahesh Bhatt had described the actress and declared: “She was a leading star and was filming for Amar Akbar Anthony (1977) and Kala Pathar (1979) those days, while I was a failure filmmaker.” I left my wife Lorraine Bright and my daughter Pooja, who was a child then, to live with Parveen. At home she was a traditional girl, who loved to grease her hair and cook, a Junagadh gujaratana, although with western influences in her formative years. She was generous and unpretentious unlike her diva character. But it was stressful to allow the world to enter his house. She presented a performance when she spoke with the producers, even by phone.”

Parveen Babi was found dead on January 22, 2005. She had not picked up deliveries at her door since the last three days, which led her neighbors to alert the police. It was reported that Parveen Babi died due to organ failure and diabetes.
